I LOVE FISH...  I love a lot of things. I love the clay I create fish with. I love the stone and plants I create landscapes with. I love the wood I create furniture with. I love my wife that we made our son with. My academic background is in biology. I pursued this line of study because I savor the intrinsic beauty in all living things.

I love watching fish moving through their environment, flowing in response to the underwater landscape of stone and aquatic plants. My goal is to capture this beauty, this visual - cerebral  sensation of 'flow' and marry it with the qualities available in ceramics. In this form I strive to deliver this sensation to our landscapes and interiors.

Clay is the perfect medium for this endeavor. Between the clay body and glaze there are myriad combinations of form, texture and color. I love the process, and results of combining clay, water, intention and fire. Fired stoneware clay can withstand the elements, even through our harsh Maine winters. Ceramic fish brought through the dramatic raku process should stay indoors, where their amazingly unique and colorful details can be fully appreciated.

The highest quality of my fish schooling through gardens or across interiors, is that they are conceptually available to everyone. Fish are omni-cultural. People of all ages, cultures and ethnicities can appreciate fish. My fish need no explanation or introduction. My fish are for everywhere and everyone.
