Water – Four Artists, One Place, Endless Possibilities
Shows on Maine Art Hill welcomes all to visit and view their last summer show of the season. Saturday, September 4, is the opening of Water, a four-artist show featuring new works from William B. Hoyt, Ellen Welch Granter, Jill Matthews, and Kathy Ostrander Roberts.

“Secretly…it is about the effect of light on the water. Sparkling or leaden, transparent or opaque, glossy or flat, the water’s surface is always mesmerizingly beautiful,” shares Granter. “I tried to convey the sense of peace that the water surface inspires with deeply saturated color fields. Of course, the birds are nearby.”
Spring Arrivals 2021 – Ellen Welch Granter
“As a group, I think this work will create an environment that transports a viewer to the shallow water at the beach,” says Granter. “They, the birds, are so much a part of the coastline here in Maine; it is a wonderful way to remind the locals and the tourists alike how integral they are to our landscape and charm.”

Happiness in Color on Canvas – A Summer Show at Maine Art Hill
“The broad palette of color and layer upon layer of brush strokes make this show a breath of fresh air in itself,” says John Spain, owner of Maine Art Hill in Kennebunk. “All three artists have captured summer and Maine in paint. Three rooms, three artists. Each artist has a distinct and separate space at the gallery where they are featuring their new works, yet all three culminate into true coastal magic.”
