"My paintings are all glimpses into my perception of life along the coast of Maine, the Island of Monhegan and Taos New Mexico. Using rich color and employing the dramatic light of the coast and the high desert, I work to capture the extraordinary way the light changes moment to moment which infuses my response to the colors that are often too subtle for the casual observer. Having spent most of my life painting and living along the coast of Maine, then spending 10 years painting the high desert of New Mexico, I am continually inspired by the challenges the local environment presents. Classically trained as a painter, I have spent a lifetime observing and taking in the nuances of color, shapes, textures, and light that make up what I paint and now comes through in my work." - Abbie Williams
