Diane Carr is a native of Saratoga Springs, New York. Diane holds a BA degree from Skidmore College and Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from SUNY Albany. While she keeps deep connections to her hometown, she also has come to feel that Maine is home, as well.
Since moving to Kennebunk in 1985, Diane has formed a deep connection to the people and places of this beautiful state. Over the years, the beauty around her - the wild skies, the rocky coast and the energetic ocean, the lush marshes, and meadows - have compelled her to make art. After retiring from the business world in 2015, Diane pursued her love of art-making by immersing herself in art studies. She attended the Maine College of Art in Portland, where she studied photography, painting, calligraphy, and silversmithing. She also spent many days painting on Monhegan Island, where she attended workshops taught by artists Frank Bruckmann and Alison Hill.
Diane’s work is expressionistic. She paints in oils, and many of the landscapes and seascapes she paints are done en plein air.
