Spring Arrivals 2022 – Karen McManus
It is the juxtaposition of light that inspires Karen’s realistic works. Each painting is an individual mental puzzle to be worked through. Combining realistic detail with the imagery created by color and light gives each painting a life of its own. Her miniatures offer a microscopic view of the broader vision surrounding us. Painting in Maine presents an ongoing drama of incredible landscapes and seascapes in just about any weather imaginable.
Spring Arrivals 2022 – Ryan Kohler
“Some would argue that a painting, just by being a painting, is automatically abstracted to a small degree, no matter how hyper-realistic it is. My work falls on the abstraction scale somewhere, sure, but where doesn’t matter to me.”

Spring Arrivals – Liz Hoag 2022
In all of my work, the light is critical to the feeling. After taking photographs on walks around her neighborhood or local trails, she returns to her studio. This is where the magic happens. Starting with a dark canvas or negative space, she builds up by adding light. The result is a stained glass image that is both abstract and representational.
Spring Arrivals 2022 – Ellen Welch Granter
“I get inspiration from many sources, including the changing colors, patterns, and atmospheres of the landscape around me and the random idea generator that is my imagination. In each painting, I am searching for an elegant balance of spare compositions over large fields of luminous color. When observing everyday subjects such as shells, I try to pay attention to the small spaces between them and the abstract patterns created by their characteristic colors.” -Ellen Welch Granter.

30th Anniversary Opening Show 2022
To add another twist and to honor the spirit of our traditional Choice Show, we have decided to keep the “voting” aspect of our Show Gallery opening event. We have asked each artist to select a Maine charity. Follow along on Facebook to find out how to vote for your favorite and help earn $1000 to an artist’s favorite local charity.
