“Many of my new landscape pieces are more atmospheric. With this a bit of the whimsy is lost as it moves more toward realism,” says Witbeck. “This collection started as a commission piece that was 48x 48. Once completed, I needed more.”

“My boys joined the swim team this year. Therefore I spent a lot of time poolside. I want to keep digging into this theme and examine it more,” says Matthews. “ There is so much fascinating stuff at swim meets. I quickly became interested in capturing these moments.”

Holly Ready, Opens at Maine Art Shows
Maine is famous for seascapes, skies, and sunlight, and no visit to the coast is complete without them. On Saturday, May 26, Maine artist Holly Ready and Maine Art Hill celebrate all three with the upcoming show at The Gallery on 14 Western Ave in Kennebunk. This is a one-woman show of Ready’s most recent work and features the most amazing skies of summer. We open Saturday, May 26 and run through Saturday, June 16. We will kick off the show with Ready’s Artist Reception from 5 pm – 7 pm Saturday, May 26.
MAINE ART HILL: 9 GALLERIES, ONE STOP
Kennebunk, ME, February 23, 2018 – After 20 years in business in the Kennebunks, Maine Art Paintings & Sculpture is opening a collection of seven micro galleries on Chase Hill Road representing high-quality artists and artisans. Launching in May, the custom framing and print shop will occupy one of the studios, while five spaces are reserved for annual renters and one for rotating weekly pop-ups.

Each will have coastal cottage charm and feel that will become a home to area artists and skilled artisans, while keeping the house for ourselves, as the new home for Maine Art Custom Framing and Prints. There will be a small sculpture garden with benches and walkways throughout the property making this little space a lovely place to visit and shop.
