When Inspiration is Personal – Artist Insights from Margaret Gerding

Artists are often asked where and how their inspiration finds them. The answer to this question is often as varied as the art itself is. Yet, this time around for Margaret Gerding, the answer was easy – it’s personal.

The Quiet End

“I have always loved the “quiet end” of the beach, where even in the heat of summer you can find open space to rest,” shares Gerding. “The dune divides the ocean from the marsh and allows for both a sunset and sunrise viewing. The large clouds held such a beautiful blue against the warm sky this evening.”

Majestic Sky I and Majestic Sky II

“Some of the skies above the sea are not only breathtaking but astounding in their uniqueness. Upon seeing them, you realize how fortunate you are to be in that moment, and how fleeting it is.,” says Gerding. “This series called Majestic Sky is all about recording these views and their beauty.”

The three pieces above are from Gerding’s 2021 Summer Show. Below are more details regarding the show itself.
