***After much reflection and thoughtful discussion with our artists, staff, and friends Maine Art Hill will no longer be doing business with Maine Magazine or any of its other entities. The recent news regarding leadership at this company is in direct conflict with our brand, the way we do business, and the way we choose to live our lives here in Maine.
With that decision made, we are happy to announce, we are proceeding, with our Maine Art Hill Block Party on Friday, June 8 as planned. 50% of ticket revenue from this event will go toward awarding and growing the new Maine Art Hill Scholarship for the Arts at Kennebunk High School.
If you have already purchased tickets through Maine Media Collective’s Kennebunkport Festival website go here to request a refund. REFUND
Again, this event will have no connection to or affiliation with Maine Magazine or its affiliates.
COME CELEBRATE SUMMER IN THE KENNEBUNKS
No matter how long you have been involved with Maine Art, you are sure to be aware of the fact we are always celebrating something. We are truly lucky to have such amazing artists, clients, staff, and community surrounding and supporting us and giving us so many wonderful reasons for such celebrations.
With that said, here we go again. We are rebranding all of our properties under the name Maine Art Hill. Seven shows, eight galleries, twenty-one weekly pop-ups, thirty -five artists, and twenty years in the making. We want to invite you all to come celebrate with us one more time at the biggest party we have thrown yet. The highlight for us is that proceeds from this event will be given back in the form of a Maine Art Hill Scholarship, for a Kennebunk High School grad who will be pursuing a degree in the arts. This is why we love this town. Everyone is connected.
On Friday, June 8 from 5 pm to 7 pm we will be hosting Maine Art Hill Block Party. Many are asking questions so….here is how it’s going to go.
At 5 o’clock we will begin distributing wristbands to ticket holders (Click the link below to purchase tickets from us) and welcome each guest with swag bags and beads. Why beads? For these few hours, Chase Hill Road will be looking a bit more like Frenchman Street and any trip to New Orleans would not be complete without several strands of beads. Once checked in, all you need to do is follow the sounds of jazz from gallery to gallery and enjoy.
So what is on the menu for the night? Art, of course, Music, Food, and Classic Cocktails. All inspired by the city, owner John Spain, knows, loves, and claims is one of the best cities to celebrate anything in.
So first off, Art.
All three Maine Art Hill buildings, The Gallery, Shows, and the brand new Studios will be featuring all new works from local artists. For the Gallery at 14 Western Ave, all the new summer work from each of our 30+ artists will be on display. At Shows, there will be a sneak peek at the 7th Annual Choice Art Show which opens at 11 am the next morning. At the all-new Studios, you will find seven new spaces all celebrating, including North Light Gallery, Donna Kabay with Phosart Studios. Joining them is our featured artist at Pop Up on Maine Art Hill, Kathy Ostrander Roberts, and ten fabulous three dimensional artists at the all new The Works Gallery. (Read more about that by clicking here.)
We welcome you to wander back and forth between all the galleries enjoying food, cocktails, and music along the way.
So now on to Food.
Each space is offering up NOLA inspired snacks and treats. At The Gallery, David Hurd Personal Chef and Catering will be cooking up Jambalaya. Muffalettas and Gumbo to share, as well as amazing charcuteries at many of the ater individual galleries. If you move up to Studios, BP’s Shuck Shack will be serving freshly shucked oysters. Because the only thing better than Louisiana oysters are Maine oysters. These babies are fresh and cold. At Shows, you will find none other than the local and lovely Rococo Ice Cream. We worked all spring cooking up a few N’awlins inspired flavors made just for this event. These folks are amazing.
What about the cocktail?
Now it wouldn’t be a true New Orleans event unless there was a signature cocktail, right? But we couldn’t choose just one, so each gallery will have their own. Hurricanes, Zazeraceks, and of course the famous Arnaud’s French 75. No matter what your taste, we will have something for you.
Now here is our favorite part. The Music.
A night in N’awlins would not be complete without music. Each gallery will house select members from the jazzy, lively New Orleans flavored septet, Soggy Po’ Boys. Be sure to stick around because these boys will come together for a fun-filled spectacular the likes of which Chase Hill has never seen.
Remember this is a ticketed event, and you must have a bracelet on to partake. We are thrilled we are able to give back through Maine Art Hill’s Scholarship for KHS. Please note this is our only ticketed event all summer. Be sure to check our calendar for all Artist Receptions and Show Events.
So… Friday. June 8th. 5-7 pm. Come ready to enjoy. There are a limited amount of tickets for sale and they are going fast.
